Aquilegia today

Aquilegia Purple empereor. There is a mystery though with this nursery bought beauty of a plant..

If the flowers are all purple why did this one make a white flower? The aquilegia spurs are there with the stamen like a dragons tongue poking out of the flower.

This is the Purple Empereor flowers in its glory :)

Could it be that you have two different plants in the same pot?

It could be Oldroses. The pot looks like it has several plants.I dont want to dig it up though to find out.I will watch the Aquilegia (Columbine) flowering this summer at close range.I do love the spurred flowers and the colours. If there are two will next years flowers be pink? A cross between purple and white?I hope to collect seeds from this one too..For taking to any new future garden!
