You've brought back memories of my school days snappy. Do the kids still play conkers at school, we used to soak them in vinegar to harden them up, and we'd say it was a three'er or four'er depending on how many they cracked, I was never that good at it.
Snappy, I assume a Conker is a chestnut? Do you gather them and roast them over an open fire? Maybe a little Dandelion wine with that?
I played the same game at school.I read today England was the only country known to play it.I have a link i found, will post it..
Trey they are horse chestnut's but not the sweet ones that are roasted and sold from mobile carts on cold winters days.
Snappy, these look like what I call buckeyes, a relative of horse chestnuts. I assume you call the "conkers", because when they fall from the trees, if you stand underneath, you can get "conked" on the head.
Carol they are horse chestnuts.I did read deers and horses like to eat them.We humans have sweet chestnuts.These are inedible relatives, "horse chestnuts".I read conkers is maybe a slang version of a french word to hit..I will post the link so you can see.
