Lots of plants growing on my side of the window, and a few odd plants growing on the other side. How the Ivy hangs onto the crumbling white washed walls, and dry red bricks is amazing.I know they have vigerous roots that help them cling spider like to the wall. They must catch the rain when it falls downwards. The leaves are very green making the sugary energy that the plant needs.
"The richness I achieve comes from Nature, the source of my inspiration."
So wrote Claude Monet the famous french artist. Looking with fresh eyes we can see natural beauty even within the commonplace, like Ivy growing up a wall. Hanging on with grim determination when nothing should grow on a dry wall. Its like the tree buckling the concrete, the tree roots are stronger than the concrete.

This is a wonderful picture Snappy. I love seeing plants and flowers growing in places where they brighten up a wall, a sidewalk, a chainlink fence ... signs of life.
That first pic is a work of art! Love the contrast of nature against the crumbling man-made structures. Nature does its best to try covering up the rubbish, doesn't it?
Hi Kate,I love it too. There is a charm about plants that grow in odd places. At work there is an outpatients building that has a small tree on the roof.A seed has been blown by the wind and germinated years ago on the roof.It is about four foot now, a tree fifteen foot away from the ground.
Salix tree if we left the building to fall down nature would reclaim it.The tree broke the concrete, the Ivy grows up the crumbling shell of the other flats.
Its unexpected life which is refreshing.I like the live work of art idea.Nature will cover our rubbish up if let to her own devices :)
