First Frost that has iced the blades of grass.The road outside our house is icy and treacherous.
I feel relieved that it got that cold, because its been too mild i think.
I looked to see what was growing.The frost has cut a swathe through the garden.
I found a nasturtium flowering in December crazy!!
here is the orange/black nasturtium.Some beautiful colour in a frosty bare garden.My bird bath has been broken by the wind.It snapped on the pole that holds it up.The bird feeders have been broken too.

We've had the same frost - kills most everything. Things that survive this time of year, have earned their spot in the garden for next year. It also absolves me from doing much outside.
Even frost can be beautiful! I'm sorry to hear about the damage to your bird bath and feeder, though. The nasturtium still has amazing color!

Oh, you have had your first frost!
Well, over here it's still pretty warmish and I still found some summer annuals blooming in the garden yesterday: panies, cornflowers, calendula's, snapdragons, nasturtiums...
And some of my spring bulbs (crocus) are growing as well, crazy, isn't it?

You had frost, Snappy. In my area it is warm in the moment! I wait for some snow, and we need a bit cold against the snails in my garden. They have damaged my new boarder completly.

We had that wind as well, it wrecked havoc all over!
I am surprised to se a nasturtium still blooming! They are usually the first to go with the slightest frost. And it's a lovely autumn color.

Sorry to hear about your broken bird bath and your broken bird feeders. Since you will probably replace them, do you think you might bring them indoors to get them out of the wind next December? :-)
Sorry about the destruction, Snappy! When you get the winter blues, try my remedy-whip out a seed/plant catalog and start daydreaming! Sometimes, I'll cut out pictures and paste together a "2D garden model" of how my fantasy garden might look. I find it kind of soothing, like coloring with crayons when I was a kid. (Or last week, whatever. ;)
I will be perusing catalogues over the winter to ease the blues.I love this nasturtium though giving some colour!
I always loved the winter gardening magazines when we lived in England. The photos of frost on the plants were breathtaking. Good luck on your move and get back online as quickly as possible. Cheers.
